SW 8718
8 dormancy

A very high yielding, high quality, non dormant variety with resistance to Spotted Alfalfa Aphid, Fusarium Wilt, Pea Aphid, Blue Alfalfa Aphid, Root Knot Nematode and Phytophthora Root Rot.

SW 8718 has performed very well in University of California yield trials at the Parlier-Kearney Agriculture Center, where it ranked first in yields in a trial of 45 non-dormant varieties. At the end of three years, SW 8718 had excellent stand persistence at Davis, Parlier and Holtville trials.

SW 8718 was developed in the Central and Southern San Joaquin Valley of California, from Bakersfield to Merced. Plant selections were made in field nurseries near Mendota, California.
